Carraro's presence in India dates back to 1997, when a joint venture was signed with one of India's largest industrial groups leading to the development of a project to establish a manufacturing center in the Ranjangaon (Pune) area. In 1999 the plant there officially began the production of axles and transmissions.
Consistently with the development of the market, in the following years, a second plant was also established for the production of gears and components.
Confirming the centrality of the Indian market, during 2006 Carraro developed important projects to expand its activities in the country, first with the acquisition of the entire capital of Carraro India and then with the creation in Pune of a new R&D center, Carraro Technologies India Private Limited, dedicated to research and design activities for new products.

Drivelines and Gears Plants, Ranjangaon
We own and operate two manufacturing plants in Pune, namely the Drivelines Manufacturing Plant and the Gears Manufacturing Plant, which are in close proximity to our key suppliers.
Drivelines Manufacturing Plant
Our drivelines manufacturing plant of approximately 84,000 square meters mainly manufactures axles and transaxles and construction vehicle transmissions or gear boxes. We utilize technologies such as casting machining, assembly, prototyping, testing and painting. Our drivelines manufacturing plant holds the ISO 9001:2015 quality management system accreditation and the ISO 14001:2015 environmental management system accreditation, and its quality has been recognized by our customers, including being awarded the Supplier Excellence Recognition Certificate 2023 by Caterpillar and the A-Class Manufacturing Technology by Hitachi.
Gears Manufacturing Plant
Our gears manufacturing plant of 78,000 square meters mainly manufactures gears, shafts and ring gears with our technologies such as gears machining and heat treatment (carburizing, induction, hardening and nitriding) technologies. Our gears manufacturing plant holds the ISO 9001:2015 quality management system accreditation and the International Automotive Task Force 16949:2016 quality management system accreditation.
